Simplified and Fully Integrated Double Opt-In (DOI) Management
We require a simplified and fully Mailjet-integrated method to execute the Double Opt-In (DOI) process without the need for a custom application, external database, or publicly accessible system. Specifically, the Automation engine should be extended to allow newly created or imported contacts to be automatically placed into a DOI workflow. This workflow should independently send the DOI email, use a standardized confirmation link provided by Mailjet, and activate the contact automatically once the confirmation has been completed, including assigning the contact to the appropriate lists.
In addition, the Contact API should be enhanced so that contacts can be created in a “pending” status by default. It should also be possible to add contacts to a list with a “pending” status. A dedicated API endpoint is needed to query the DOI status of any contact, for example “pending”, “confirmed”, or “blocked”. Optionally, a webhook event for confirmed DOI actions would help integrations by removing the need for polling.
Overall, we require a standardized, fully internal DOI mechanism within Mailjet that provides the complete logic of the confirmation process, including the DOI email, confirmation link, and confirmation page. This would allow users to simply create a contact, trigger the DOI workflow, and wait for the confirmation—without operating any infrastructure themselves. This approach would significantly reduce technical complexity, minimize potential errors, and ensure a consistent and compliant DOI process.
